The last time I played Mather, I was in HS and that was a long-long time ago.  I'm thinking of playing here in a couple weeks and I'm wondering if it's even worth it.  Anybody play this course lately?

Anyone have any course advice for Mather?  I'm playing this Sunday and would appreciate any tips.

A manager at work recommended that I club up on alot of the Par 3's because alot of the greens slope up.  We'll see!

A group of us played here on 8/16.  We had a 7:30 tee time ($53 w/ cart) and the conditions were hot with no winds.  The course was a little damp in some areas of the fairways but overall the course was in decent condition and the boxes & greens have been well kept.  Play was a little slow.  It took us about 5 hours to get through the round.

Nice to finally be on SAGA.

No joke.  The last time B.D. and I played Mather (about three weeks ago) the course caught on fire!  We teed off into the smoke on number 10, then the Fire Marshall kicked us off.  The coolest part was receiving a "fire check" instead of a rain check.  I've played in serious hail, rain, and a monsoon, but this was the first for fire...

Also, sorry I was not registered in time to comment on Mather.  I've played it ton, going way back to Jr. golf.  It's always slow, but in decent shape and forgiving.  If you miss the fairways at Mather you should feel guilty.  Overall, Mather is best for twighlight (you can get an average of 13 in when starting at 4:30) or when playing with a coupon.

Took you long enough Mike!

Thanks for the input about Mather GC!  Can't wait to play at SAGA's 1st Annual Family and Friends outing at Teal GC!

Yup, the charred area between 10 & 12...  We could also see a bunch of golf balls in the black ash.
