So, I've had my form forged Cleveland TA1's since 12/2001 and have been played with the standard lie for all these years until this past Saturday.  I finally took my irons to Grips Fast Golf on Freeport and Pete and his crew adjusted my lie 4 degrees from standard for my short self.  The lie angle to the ground looks great and I felt I struck the ball more solid than ever.  I should have done this adjustment long time ago and it now it looks and feels like I have a new set of irons in the bag.  I can't wait to get back out on the course!

How do you know when you need such adjustment?  Do you go through a teaching pro?  or did they adjust it for you?

Pete at Grips Fast Golf had me swing one of my irons to see where I was bottoming out on the sole and they made the adjustment from there.  You can visually tell if the toe or heal is not flush with the ground.  I'm on the short side compared the "standard" height golfer, so the toe of the iron pops up.  I'm sure if you're getting a lesson from a teaching pro, they could tell you if your clubs fit your swing.  If you're buying new clubs and that brand offers custom fittings, it might be worth checking out.  The next set of irons I buy will be custom fitted.

Thanks for the info.  I will probably drop by Grips Fast Golf and get em to fit my clubs for me as well.  I definitely am planning to get my next set of clubs fitted.
